About this map

The Quinn Canyon Range dominates the northwestern corner of this Nevada landscape, where the Humboldt National Forest boundary meets the expansive desert flats. This 1980s provisional survey captures a remote section of Lincoln County characterized by a series of north-south basins, including Spring Valley, Garden Valley, and Sand Valley. The terrain is defined by its water sources, with isolated points like Mc Cutchen Spring and Wild Horse Spring providing critical landmarks in an otherwise arid environment. Along the slopes of the range, a solitary Prospect indicates the area's history of mineral exploration. To the east, the Worthington Mountains rise sharply from the valley floor, while man-made features are sparse, represented primarily by a Radio Facility and the seasonal flow of Davis Creek. This map illustrates the intersection of high-altitude forest and Great Basin desert before modern developments altered these traditional grazing and mining lands.
