The St Regis River winds through this heavily forested landscape in Franklin County, anchored by small settlements like Gile and Spring Cove in the mid-1960s. Much of the terrain is defined by the Adirondack State Park and various sections of the State Forest Preserve, where logging roads and primitive trails such as Fourmile Road and Dexter Road provide the only access into the interior.
