Chaco Culture National Historical Park extends into the northeastern corner of this high-desert landscape in New Mexico. The area is characterized by the broad Kim-me-ni-oli Valley, which dominates the central drainage corridor along with the Kim-me-ni-oli Wash. Settlement is sparse, with the I-K Ranch serving as a notable landmark in a region primarily defined by water management and ranching infrastructure. Vital water sources like Milk Lake, Flat Lake, and drainage from Indian Cr are supported by a network of numbered wells, including Windmill Number 2 and Windmill Number 3. Transportation in this portion of the Eastern Navajo Agency is facilitated by NM-371 and local thoroughfares such as Little Boy Rd and Indian Service Route 7030.
