The Yellowstone River cuts through this high-altitude landscape, flowing northward past the small settlement of Miner and through the narrow confines of Yankee Jim Canyon. Much of the quadrangle is defined by the protected lands of the Gallatin National Forest, where steep peaks like Crystal Cross Mtn, Mans Foot Mtn, and the uniquely named Dog Tooth Rock watch over the drainage basins.
