Humboldt National Forest and Great Basin National Park dominate this high-elevation landscape in the eastern Great Basin. The topography is defined by the steep rises of the Snake Range, where Granite Peak and Highland Ridge form a massive drainage divide. Remote water sources like Mustang Spring and Decathon Spring are critical points in an arid environment otherwise carved by seasonal flows such as Johns Wash and Murphy Wash.
