Malheur National Forest dominates the northern reaches of this high-desert landscape in eastern Oregon. The terrain is defined by the prominent Moffit Table and the rising peak of Battle Mtn, while the Malheur River cuts through the center of the sheet. This area shows a sophisticated network of early water management, including Robbins Ditch and Johnson Ditch, which were critical for directing seasonal flows across the arid ground. Numerous water sources such as Big Spring, Seep Spring, and Sunshine Spring are scattered throughout the region, providing vital points for livestock and wildlife. Towards the south, significant water storage is marked at Griffin Cr Reservoir and Bar S Reservoir, connected by local routes like Blue Bucket Rd and Van-Drewsey Rd.
