Moncisco Wash and its drainage network define this high-desert landscape in New Mexico's Eastern Navajo Agency. At this point in the twenty-first century, the land is marked by an extensive grid of utility and service infrastructure, notably Pipe Line Rd and Pipe Yard Rd, which overlay the natural terrain of Moncisco Mesa. The hydrology of the area is centered around the intermittent West Fork Gallegos Canyon and the small basin of Jeters Lake. Surveyed as part of the public land system across townships T25N and T26N, the map details a region where traditional navigation routes like Indian Svc Rte 5 coexist with modern industrial access roads. Researchers can observe the subtle elevation changes from the prominence of Black Hill down through the complex arroyo systems that feed into the larger wash network.
