Morro Bay and the adjacent community of Los Osos anchor this coastal landscape, where the distinct volcanic peaks of the Irish Hills meet the Pacific. The prominent landmark of Morro Rock stands at the harbor entrance, while further inland, the chain of ancient volcanic plugs continues with Cerro Cabrillo and Hollister Peak. Between these heights, the Los Osos Valley provides a corridor for settlements like Baywood Park and Cuesta-by-the-Sea, which border the wetlands of Estero Bay.
