Sequoia National Park and Sequoia National Forest converge in this high-altitude landscape of the southern Sierra Nevada. The terrain is defined by dramatic elevation changes between Dennison Ridge and the deep drainage of Dillon Canyon. The hydrosystems of the region are clearly delineated, with the South Fork Kaweah River flowing through the northern reaches while the North Fork Tule River and its tributaries, such as Buckhorn Creek, carve through the southern slopes. This survey documents a complex network of backcountry trails, including the South Fork Kaweah Trl and the Hockett-Sand Meadows Trl, which provide access to remote high-country features like Hockett Lakes and Summit Lake. This modern mapping captures the protected status of the John Krebs Wilderness and Golden Trout Wilderness, where human impact is limited to the footpaths and fire roads that traverse the granite peaks.
