Ajo Range dominates this corner of the Sonoran Desert, reaching its zenith at Mount Ajo in the central part of the quadrangle. The 2011 survey reveals an arid landscape defined by significant elevation changes and seasonal watercourses, where features like Montezuma Head and the Ajo Window serve as prominent natural landmarks. The land is carved by numerous drainages, including the prominent Alamo Wash, Gu Vo Wash, and Pia Oik Wash, which channel runoff through the desert flats from the surrounding peaks.
