The Sawatch Range dominates this portion of the San Isabel National Forest, defined by the towering summits of the Collegiate Peaks. High-altitude landmarks like Mt Antero and Mt Princeton overlook a landscape carved by the waters of Chalk Cr and the striking white facade of the Chalk Cliffs. The area's geothermal activity is concentrated near the base of the mountains at Mount Princeton Hot Springs and Hortense Hot Spring, long-standing destinations in the valley.
