1986 Map of Mount Ichabod

About this map

Mount Ichabod and several other high peaks dominate this high-altitude landscape in northeastern Nevada during the mid-1980s. The topography is defined by significant vertical relief, with Mason Mountain and Wild Horse Mountain rising above a network of drainages and seasonal meadows. In the lower reaches, Evans Flat provides a more level terrain near the Bruneau River, which marks the northeast portion of this sheet. The presence of a Gravel Pit near Mason Mountain indicates localized industrial activity within an otherwise undeveloped wilderness. Water sources are vital features here, from the branching East Fork Beaver Creek to the high-elevation Jenkins Meadows. This U.S. Geological Survey provisional edition captures the drainage patterns of Rattlesnake Canyon and Dolly Varden Creek before modern environmental shifts or further land management changes occurred in the Elko County backcountry.
