Bitterroot National Forest dominates this high-altitude landscape along the border of Montana and Idaho, centered on the prominent summit of Mt Jerusalem. The terrain is defined by a series of alpine water bodies, including Jerusalem Lake and Esplin Lake, which feed the drainages of Watchtower Cr and Little W Fork. To the north, the boundary between Ravalli County, Montana, and Idaho County, Idaho, follows the ridge lines through Bare Peak.
