Mt Lebanon and the distinctive geological formations of the Sweet Grass Hills dominate this northern Liberty County landscape. The terrain is defined by dramatic elevation changes, notably at Devils Chimney and the high point of East Butte, where the land drops away into a complex network of dry washes and seasonal watercourses. The local hydrology is characterized by numerous coulees, including McTosh Coulee, Scotch Coulee, and Snoose Coulee, which channel runoff toward Sage Creek and its tributaries.
