The Abajo Mountains dominate this high-altitude section of San Juan County, where the peaks of Mt Linnaeus, Bob Park Peak, and West Mtn rise above the drainage of Mule Canyon. Most of the landscape is contained within the Manti-LaSal National Forest, showing a network of canyons and ridges such as Shay Ridge and Duckett Ridge that have long defined travel and grazing in this part of southeastern Utah. High-country resources are evidenced by the Blue Cr Reservoir and various water sources like Jack Spring and Bayles Spring. These remote highlands transition into the distinct geological formations of Brushy Basin and Cliff Dwellers Pasture, reflecting the area's use for seasonal range and its unique topographic character.
