Prichard lies at the southern edge of this map, situated near the confluence of Murray Creek and the North Fork Coeur d'Alene River. The landscape is defined by the legacy of mineral extraction, evidenced by the extensive Dredge Tailings along the valley floor. High ridges such as Bobtail Ridge and peaks including Murray Peak and Maple Peak create a complex network of drainages including Gold Run and West Fork Eagle Creek.

The Shoshone County backcountry is partitioned by the Coeur d'Alene National Forest and Kaniksu National Forest. Historical transit routes are preserved here, notably the Montana Idaho Trail which skirts the state boundary near Berry Lake. Numerous named gulches, such as Pennsylvania Gl and White Rock Gulch, point to a history of intensive local prospecting and land use throughout the mountain terrain.
