The Appalachian National Scenic Trl winds through this section of the Maine North Woods, crossing the high ground of Potaywadjo Ridge and the lower slopes of Cooper Mtn. This landscape is defined by its complex hydrography, where massive water bodies like Pemadumcook Lake and Jo-Mary Lake dominate the eastern reaches. The interior is a dense network of smaller basins and drainages, including Tumbledown Dick Pond, Leavitt Pond, and Henderson Pond, many of which are linked by the winding courses of Tumbledown Dick Stream and Pratt Brook.
