Salinas and its northeastern reaches meet the rising slopes of the Gabilan Range in this topographic study. The transition from the dense street grids of the Alisal district to the rugged upland terrain is marked by a series of drainage systems, including Alisal Cr, Natividad Cr, and Gabilan Cr. Longstanding transit routes like Old Stage Rd and Old Natividad Rd skirt the base of the mountains, following the natural contours between the valley floor and the heights of Dunn Canyon. The contrast between the organized development of the Salinas valley and the largely undeveloped mountain range highlights the geographic boundaries that have shaped the region's growth. Aviation activity is anchored by the Salinas Municipal Airport in the south, while the northern extent preserves the quieter character of the Natividad area.
