Nisula and Alston anchor this portion of Houghton County, where the southern boundary of the Ottawa National Forest meets a network of timber and access roads. The landscape is defined by the winding course of the W Br Otter River, which drops over Otter Falls as it flows toward the eastern edge of the map. This terrain is dotted with numerous glacial lakes, including Emily Lake, Pike Lake, and Lake Fifteen, many of which are reached by dedicated tracks such as Pike Lake Rd and Clear Lake Access Rd.
