North Chinook Reservoir and its associated water management infrastructure anchor this northern Montana landscape in Blaine County. The terrain is defined by a network of drainage coulees, such as Scotchmans Coulee and Chouteau Coulee, which channel seasonal runoff toward the winding course of Battle Creek. This 2011 survey illustrates the vital role of water storage in the high plains, featuring the North Chinook Dam and the uniquely named Mister Flaming Jet Dam.
