The Mount Washington Valley serves as the focal point for this survey, where the resort and residential hub of North Conway transitions into the steep elevations of the White Mountain National Forest. A complex network of recreation and mountain trails, including the Cranmore Trl and Black Cap Trl, crisscrosses the slopes of Cranmore Mtn and Hurricane Mtn. The village of Redstone sits at the southern base of these peaks, near Redstone Ledge, while the eastern portion of the sheet reaches the state line between New Hampshire and Maine. Along the Saco River valley, smaller settlements like East Conway and South Chatham are situated among low-lying water bodies such as Upper Kimball Pond, illustrating the varied landscape between the high peaks of Kearsarge North and the fertile river basin.
