Old Man Mtn and the high ridges of the Santa Ynez Mountains define this section of the Los Padres National Forest, where the border between Santa Barbara and Ventura counties follows the crest of the range. The landscape is carved by deep drainages, including the headwaters of Matilija Cr and the N Fork Juncal Cr. In the northern portion of the quadrangle, peaks such as Monte Arido and Three Sisters stand as prominent landmarks overlooking a network of steep canyons. Human activity is largely confined to remote access points like Upper Hartman Ranch Rd and Matilija Canyon Rd, which provide entry into the backcountry near Murietta Canyon. The topographical detail captures the complex drainage patterns of Agua Caliente Canyon and Diablo Canyon, illustrating the watershed's role in the regional geography of the California coast ranges.
