Owasa sits as a central hub in this section of Hardin County, where the agricultural grid is interrupted by the winding course of the Iowa River. The river valley creates a corridor of complex topography, carved into the surrounding plains and providing the site for several historic burial grounds including Kidwiler Cem and Oakwood Cem. To the northeast, the small settlement of Eagle City rests near the riverbanks, connected to the broader region by a network of rural roads such as 160th ST and Co RD d35.
