Owyhee Ridge and the high desert terrain of eastern Malheur County define this landscape, characterized by a complex network of intermittent drainages and critical water sources for ranching and recreation. The northwestern corner touches the shoreline of Lake Owyhee, where Lake Owyhee State Park provides a gateway to the reservoirs. Farther east, the terrain is marked by essential livestock and wildlife points such as Swigert Cow Camp and numerous man-made catchments like Camp Kettle Reservoir and Board Corral Reservoir.
