Painted Rock Spring serves as a vital water point in this arid stretch of the Mojave Desert, located at the southern edge of the quadrangle near the prominent Painted Rock formation. This landscape is defined by the convergence of several major ephemeral drainage systems, including Big Wash, Colton Wash, and Sunflower Wash, which cut through the broad expanse of Ward Valley. The terrain rises toward the north into the Little Piute Mountains, where the historical route of the E Mojave Heritage Trl traverses the high ground.
