Pakoon Springs and the nearby Pakoon Tank serve as critical water points in this arid corner of the Mojave Desert. The landscape is defined by its drainages and dramatic geological features, such as the sharp uplift of The Cockscomb to the west and the high ground of Cottonwood Ridge in the north. Settlement is sparse, represented primarily by named springs and isolated tanks that supported ranching operations in this remote part of Arizona.
