Park Grove anchors this eastern Arkansas landscape, where the flat alluvial terrain is defined by a complex network of wetlands and drainage features known locally as slashes. The hydrological pattern is particularly evident through Big Slash and the evocatively named Boat Gunwale Slash, which weave between agricultural fields and forested patches. These watercourses, along with Cypress Creek, Locust Creek, and Knights Creek, historically dictated the placement of roads and farmsteads in Monroe County.
