About this map

Water management in the high desert of Malheur County is the primary focus of this 2020 landscape. This arid region of southeastern Oregon is defined by its network of drainages and man-made impoundments. Significant features include Peacock Lake and its namesake Peacock Cr, alongside numerous water storage sites such as Antelope Reservoir, Little Peacock Reservoir, and Five Points Reservoir. The landscape rises toward High Ridge in the south, where the drainage of Varment Cr Reservoir begins its course. The infrastructure of the area is sparse, primarily represented by Jackson Creek Rd which traverses the terrain from northwest to southeast, and the curiously named Ho Crossing in the southeast corner. These features reflect the area's ongoing reliance on seasonal creeks like Little Antelope Cr and Bull Cr for ranching and resource management.
