Wrangell Narrows provides a critical maritime passage along the western edge of Tongass National Forest, separating the mainland from a series of islands and reefs. This coastal environment is defined by complex waterways such as Keene Channel and Beecher Pass, which weave around Woewodski Island and Burnt Island. The terrestrial landscape is dominated by the Sumner Mountains, with peaks rising above Sumner Pass and draining into Spirit Cr. Infrastructure is concentrated in the northern and southern coastal fringes, where the Mitkof Highway and Woodpecker Road provide access to the interior. Navigational landmarks like Midway Rock, Point Lockwood, and Point Alexander trace the rugged shoreline where the forest meets the Gulf of Alaska.
