Pilot Knob and its surrounding high-desert basins define this landscape along the border of Mohave and Yavapai counties. The terrain is characterized by a series of prominent mesas and deep drainages, including the expansive Goodwin Mesa and Southeast Mesa, which are dissected by Francis Creek and its tributaries. This 2021 survey shows a land primarily managed for water conservation in an arid environment, evidenced by the numerous catchment features such as Rabbit Hollow Tank, Steamboat Tank, and Wikieup Tank.
