Pine Flat Dam anchors this landscape, managing the flow of the Kings River as it emerges from the high country into the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. The reservoir, Pine Flat Lake, is framed by the steep slopes of the Sierra National Forest to the north and the Sequoia National Forest to the south. This transition from high-elevation peaks like Tivy Mtn and Harmon Peak to the flatter reaches of Wonder Valley and Clark Valley reveals the complex hydrology and topography of eastern Fresno County.
