Cedar River National Grassland dominates the western portion of this terrain in Grant County, North Dakota. The landscape is defined by the winding paths of several watercourses, most notably Cedar Creek along the southern border and its various tributaries including Crooked Creek and Hay Creek. These drainages create a complex network of coulees and draws through the prairie, illustrating the natural erosion patterns of the northern plains. The survey also captures the transition between Grant County and Sioux County at the southern edge, where the meandering Cedar Creek serves as a significant geographical boundary. A grid of rural sections is maintained by local roads such as 90th St SW and 57th Ave SW, which provide access to the expansive agricultural and grassland tracts that characterize this part of the state.
