About this map

Everglades National Park covers the northeastern corner of this coastal expanse, where the Florida mainland dissolves into the Gulf of America. The landscape is dominated by the shallow, tidally-influenced waters of the Ten Thousand Islands region, punctuated by isolated landforms such as Plover Key and North Plover Key. Along the upper eastern edge, Seminole Point and Bird Key frame the waters of Bird Key Bight, marking the transition from the mangrove-lined coast to the open sea. This modern survey illustrates a preserved wilderness where very little has changed since the park's establishment, focusing on the subtle bathymetry and shifting sands of the Gulf's edge rather than human infrastructure or development.
