About this map

The Delaware River carves a sharp, deep arc through the center of this landscape, anchoring small riverside hamlets like Pond Eddy and Knights Eddy along the New York and Pennsylvania border. To the north, the upland community of Glen Spey is surrounded by a dense network of mountain roads such as Black Forest Rd and Lower Lumber Rd, reflecting the region's heritage of timber and rural transit. In the southern half of the quadrangle, the high terrain of Buckhorn Ridge is marked by the Buckhorn Ridge Fire Tower and preserved within the Buckhorn Natural Area. This 2013 survey illustrates the balance between managed forests and hydroelectric infrastructure, with the Rio Reservoir and the Mongaup River feeding into the Delaware near the settlement of Mongaup. Family history is preserved at the Van Tuyl Hillside Cem and the Mongaup Lower River Cem, both located near the river's edge.
