1968 Map of Portuguese Mtn

USGS Topo · Published 1971

About this map

The high-desert terrain of Nye County, Nevada, is documented here in a survey conducted in cooperation with the Atomic Energy Commission. The landscape is dominated by the Pancake Range, which divides the expansive Big Sand Springs Valley to the west from the Railroad Valley to the east. At the center of the range, Portuguese Mtn rises above Wood Canyon, while the southern reaches features volcanic activity evidenced by Lava flows and the distinctive Black Rock Summit.
