Red Cornfield Mesa and the surrounding high plateau country of the Chinle Agency are defined by a network of drainage systems and tribal routes. This 2011 survey illustrates the complex topography where Agua Sal Creek and Sheep Dip Creek carve through the land south of Wide Mesa. The region is characterized by named landforms such as Many Coyote Mesa and Gray Cactus Mesa, which rise above the desert floor. To the south, the landscape transitions into canyon country, including Pine Tree Canyon and Middle Trail Canyon. Connectivity across this part of the Navajo Nation is maintained by Indian Rte-64 and several business routes, tracing paths through an area where natural landmarks like The Legs serve as significant navigational points.
