Humboldt National Forest dominates the upper elevations of this high-desert landscape where the White Pine and Lincoln County line crosses through the eastern Nevada wilderness. This 2014 survey documents a rugged network of forest development roads and primitive tracks that navigate the transition from the floor of Spring Valley into the steep drainages of the mountains. A complex system of seasonal watercourses defines the terrain, including the prominent Johns Wash and Murphy Wash, which have carved deep paths through the rock over millennia.
