The Mogollon Rim escarpment marks the northern boundary of this high-altitude landscape, where the Sitgreaves National Forest meets the northern edge of the Fort Apache Indian Reservation. The terrain is defined by a series of parallel ridges and deep canyons, including Yellowstone Ridge, Juniper Ridge, and Snake Ridge, all trending southward from the rim toward the interior of the reservation.
