The Umpqua National Forest dominates this section of the Southern Oregon Cascades, where the boundary between Douglas and Jackson Counties winds across high ridgelines. High-elevation landmarks like Richter Mtn and Threehorn Mtn anchor the southern portion of the map, while Callahan Ridge and Wildcat Ridge define the northern drainages. This high-country landscape is deeply dissected by numerous tributaries, notably Cow Creek and Drew Cr, which gather runoff from several prominent gaps including Neuman Gap and Tombstone Gap.
