Catlow Valley and the steep elevation of the Catlow Rim define the western edge of this Harney County landscape. At the base of the rim, the Roaring Springs Ranch Airport serves as a remote landmark near the source of Roaring Springs. The topography is etched by several prominent drainage systems including Solomon Canyon, Kueny Canyon, and Black Canyon, which descend from the higher elevations of the east.
