Humboldt National Forest encompasses much of this high-elevation landscape in Elko County, where the Nevada-Idaho state line defines the northern boundary. The terrain is characterized by the prominent Jarbidge Mountains and deep drainages including Dove Creek Canyon and the winding E Fork Jarbidge River. This 2014 survey documents a region defined by its water sources and livestock history, noted through features like Jim Bob Spring and Jack Creek Tank. To the west of the river, Palomino Bench and Sawmill Ridge provide vertical relief, while the eastern portion of the map transitions into the Inside Desert. The mapping of small tributaries such as Poison Cr and Jim Bob Cr illustrates the crucial role these named seasonal flows play in the high desert ecosystem and for those navigating the surrounding plateaus.
