Rociada and Upper Rociada sit at the edge of the Santa Fe National Forest, where the mountain waters of Manuelitas Creek and Rito San Jose meet. This high-altitude landscape is defined by its deep spiritual and community roots, evidenced by the clustered burial grounds of San Jose Cem, San Antonio Cem, and Santo Niño Cem. These sites anchor the traditional settlements against the backdrop of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

The southern half of the map transitions into the protected terrain of the Pecos Wilderness, featuring prominent landmarks like Bluebell Ridge and Lone Pine Mesa. A complex network of watercourses, including the Sapello River and the Left Hand Sapello River, drains the high country.
