About this map

The High Plains of the Colorado-Nebraska borderlands are defined here by a series of intermittent drainage systems carving through the plateau. In the early 1970s, this landscape across the Logan and Phillips County line remained largely defined by sparse ranching outposts and infrastructure. Small named points like Rockland and Hunt anchor the southwestern sections, while Angus sits near the eastern margin. The drainage of North Fork Frenchman Creek and its southern counterpart, South Fork Frenchman Creek, dictate the local topography, alongside Sandy Creek and Patent Creek to the south. A long diagonal Pipeline cuts across the center of the sheet, reflecting the industrial development overlaying the traditional agricultural footprint. Scattered Gravel Pits and various wells indicate the localized extraction and water management necessary for survival in this arid terrain.
