Roman Nose Mountain towers over this rugged section of the Coast Range at the border of Lane and Douglas counties. This area is defined by the high-elevation headwaters of numerous drainages, most notably the Siuslaw River and the W Fork Smith River. The landscape reflects a mix of managed timberlands and federal conservation within the Siuslaw National Forest.
