Winema National Forest encompasses much of this high-desert and timbered terrain in Klamath County, where the meandering Sprague River cuts through the northern sections of the map. The landscape is a network of water management features, including several stock ponds and named reservoirs like Long Prairie Reservoir and Mahogany Ridge Reservoir, alongside numerous springs such as Whitehorse Spring and Kamkaun Spring. These water sources supported ranching operations at the McCready Ranch and Wolff Ranch during the late twentieth century.
