The Ivishak River dominates this portion of the North Slope, carving a wide, braided path through the Arctic terrain. This 2017 survey by the U.S. Geological Survey illustrates the vast hydrography of the region, where numerous small channels and gravel bars shift across the river's broad floodplain. To the east, the drainage of Gilead Cr feeds into the primary valley, descending from the steep, contoured slopes that rise sharply from the riverbank. The map is primarily an study of natural topography and remote water systems, defined by the township boundaries of t2s r17e and t3s r17e, showing a landscape untouched by permanent settlements or industrial infrastructure.
