Sage Hen Reservoir serves as a central landmark within this portion of the Boise National Forest in Gem and Valley Counties. The landscape is defined by a series of high-elevation meadows and basins, including Tripod Meadow and Pine Creek Meadow, which are linked by an extensive network of forest roads and trails such as the Recompense-Tripod Summit. The terrain rises toward significant peaks like Tripod Summit and Friday Butte, overlooking the expansive High Valley to the southeast.
