Bogue Sound separates the mainland of the Croatan National Forest from the narrow barrier islands of the Crystal Coast. This survey documents a critical period of transition for the region, showing the early footprints of Emerald Isle and the inland infrastructure of the Nine Foot Road. Small-scale landmarks such as Soundview Ch and various landings along Onslow Bay highlight the maritime-dependent life of these coastal communities before modern bridges and tourism reshaped the landscape.
