Fremont National Forest dominates this section of the Oregon high country, where the landscape is defined by volcanic peaks and a complex network of headwater streams. The North Fork Sprague Wild and Scenic River carves a path through the eastern half of the map, fed by numerous seasonal and year-round tributaries such as Gearhart Cr and Berry Cr. The elevation varies significantly between the summits of Black Butte, Green Mtn, and Gearhart Mtn in the south.
