The Rio Grande corridor between Santa Fe and Albuquerque is defined here by the presence of significant indigenous settlements and massive water management infrastructure. Cochiti Pueblo and Santo Domingo Pueblo anchor the northern and southern reaches of the quadrangle, connected by a network of service routes and local roads such as Indian Svc Rte 85. The landscape is dominated by the Cochiti Dam, which holds back Cochiti Lake and regulates the river's flow near the community of Cochiti.
